PHYSIOTHERAPY

The Mind and Body are often thought to be two distinct entities, but mental health and physical health should not be thought of as being separate. Poor physical health can increase the possibility of developing mental health problems, just as poor mental health can negatively impact physical health.

At Central Minds we have a highly skilled Physiotherapist who takes a holistic, integrated approach to dealing with physical ailments and conditions. Holistic Physiotherapy combines traditional physiotherapy and complementary therapies to help alleviate pain and inflammation, improve movement and prevent the recurrence of injuries.

Infants, children, adults, elderly individuals, amateur and elite sports persons and pregnant women can benefit from this integrative approach. Its is particularly useful if you have a chronic or recurrent condition that is unresponsive or has responded poorly or temporarily to direct treatment modalities.

Whether a physical ailment is resulting from trauma, sports injuries, repetitive strains, poor posture, or degenerative conditions, our physiotherapist, Wendy, is able to help and support your recovery process.

By taking an integrated approach she will be able to determine whether your pain or dysfunction could be the result of a series of chain reactions or muscle compensations that are taking place elsewhere in your body. For example, knee pain can be caused by an old ankle sprain or restricted movement at the hips or heachaches could stem from a stiff neck.

By addressing the root cause of the problem you are less likely to experience a relapse in your condition or injury and are more likely to be able to fully enjoy your normal acitivites of daily life. Understanding of the strong connections between different body parts, as well as the uniqueness of every individual and his/her condition are the keys to the success of the treatment program.

Treatment is individually tailored to suit the needs of each client. Some treatment modalities that Wendy utilizes are;

  • Physiotherapy
  • Integrative Manual Therapy
  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Massage
  • Accupuncture
  • Exercise and Stretching to correct movement patterns
  • Education and Advice

Physiotherapy

Whether a physical ailment is resulting from trauma, sports injuries, repetitive strains, poor posture, or degenerative conditions, our primary holistic physiotherapist is able to help and support the recovery process.

Just as chronic neck pain can also stem from stiffness at the lower back or thoracic spine, knee pain can be caused by an old ankle sprain or restricted movement at the hips. Understanding of the strong connections between different body parts, as well as the uniqueness of every individual and his/her condition are the keys to the success of the treatment program.

Holistic Physiotherapy combines traditional physiotherapy and complementary therapies to help alleviate pain and inflammation, improve movement and prevent the recurrence of dysfunctions. Anyone from infants, children, adults to the elderly, amateur to elite sportsmen and pregnant women can benefit from this integrative approach.

Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT)

Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) is a drug-free, non-invasive and gentle manual therapy with predominately hands-on techniques. It integrated and further evolved on the knowledge of Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractics, Functional Medicine and many other effective treatment modalities. It is an innovative and unique approach which does not only address pain, dysfunction, disability and disease, but also offers new recovery
opportunities and hope to patients whose conditions are conventionally thought incurable or have little room for improvement.

With a deep root in comprehensive and holistic approaches, IMT assesses and treats the underlying cause(s) of dysfunction, which could be a single structure, or multiple systems, such as spine, bones, ligaments, discs, nerves, fascia, muscles, organs, brain tissues, circulatory system, lymphatic system, digestive system and more. As IMT looks at the body as a whole, it also addresses the nutritional, emotional, mental and spiritual factors that contribute to the dysfunctions if needed.

Targeting optimum healing on cellular level and self-regulating mechanism, IMT successfully yields long lasting results and restore health in both acute and chronic conditions. There is a growing number of people using IMT as an adjunct therapy with their conventional medical treatments, as well as a preventive healthcare measures.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

A gentle, safe and non-invasive hands-on treatment to release the restrictions and to restore the balance within the cranio-sacral system, i.e. the brain tissues and central nervous system.

Unresolved tensions from injuries, trauma, surgeries or stress, whether it is physical or emotional, can alter the natural healthy motion of fluids and cause restrictions in the tissues within the craniosacral system. It will then be reflected through the abnormal range, asymmetry and decrease in the strength of the Cranial Sacral Rhythm.

It is very gentle and safe, and can be used for any age group from infants to the elderly, as well as during pregnancy.

  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Digestive issues
  • Emotional problems
  • Facial pain
  • Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches/ Migraines
  • Knee pain
  • Neck pain
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder pain
  • Sleep disorders
  • Sprain
  • Stress
  • Stroke
  • Tennis elbow and more…….

“Wendy is an amazing physiotherapist! She is very thorough and takes her time while working on the body to release tension or work on realignment. I love her sessions because she is really there to treat you and not like other therapists who leave you hooked up on a machine. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs to work on shoulder tension, migraines and lower back pain. She is wonderful!”

“I saw Wendy throughout my pregnancy. She not only helped with my lower back pain but also used physiotherapy and acupuncture to improve my range of motion and help me sleep better.
During my last trimester, my placenta began to calcify. Wendy used integrative manual therapy to improve the blood flow to my placenta which meant my baby could get the oxygen and nutrients she needed.

What I love about Wendy is that she doesn’t just use one treatment modality – she treats clients as a whole and uses techniques that work best for the individual. I would have no hesitation in referring Wendy to any one I know! “

“Wendy was considerate and professional; she really listened to my issue and the history of it to ensure she could tailor her treatment appropriately. I had noticeable improvement in my injury following my treatment with her. Would definitely return in the future.”

“Wendy is a miracle worker who really helped me with my back pain. She thoroughly assessed me and took the time to listen to what I had to say. She was able to identify that although my back was flaring up at the time, the cause of it was from an ankle injury I sustained 6 years ago. I’m happy to report I’m back pain free and continue recommending Wendy to my friends and family. .”
