Physical & Holistic Therapies
As you maybe we aware we are experiencing a difficult time in Hong Kong with a significant number of disruptions and road closures.
In order to prioritise patient care, Central Minds will stay open as scheduled. As you are all too aware, we cannot predict with any certainty what might happen on a day-to-day basis – the situation is unpredictable and changing fast.
In the event that it is deemed unsafe for the clinic to remain open we will close and do our best to contact you in a timely manner regarding your appointment. In this event, where possible, a member of staff will contact you to reschedule your session or arrange an online session with your therapist.
Please note: if you are unable to come to the practice due to road closures and disruptions, our staff will assist you in rescheduling your appointment or your therapist will offer you an online session at the same time as your original scheduled session.
The safety of our team and patients is our priority and we will continue to review the situation on an on-going basis.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Healthy Body, Healthy Mind
The Mind and Body are often thought to be two distinct entities, but mental health and physical health should not be thought of as being separate. Poor physical health can increase the possibility of developing mental health problems, just as poor mental health can negatively impact physical health.
At Central Minds, we have highly skilled therapists who are trained in traditional physiotherapy and complementary therapies. They use holistic, integrated approaches to dealing with ailments and conditions.
Infants, children, adults, the elderly, amateur and elite sports persons and pregnant women can benefit from this integrative approach. It is particularly useful if you have a chronic or recurrent condition that is unresponsive or has responded poorly or temporarily to direct treatment modalities.
By taking an integrated approach, our therapists will be able to determine whether your symptoms are a result of a series of chain reactions or compensations that are taking place elsewhere in your body. For example, knee pain can often be caused by an old ankle sprain or restricted movement at the hips or headaches can often stem from a stiff neck.
By addressing the root cause of the problem, you are less likely to experience a relapse in your condition or injury and are more likely to be able to fully enjoy your normal activities of daily life. Understanding of the strong connections between different body parts, as well as the uniqueness of every individual and his/her condition are the keys to the success of the treatment program.
Hear What They Say
“Wendy is an amazing physiotherapist! She is very thorough and takes her time while working on the body to release tension or work on realignment. I love her sessions because she is really there to treat you and not like other therapists who leave you hooked up on a machine. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs to work on shoulder tension, migraines and lower back pain. She is wonderful!”
About Wendy Lam
Wendy is a Holistic Physiotherapist with extensive training in both Hong Kong and the United States. She integrates Physiotherapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Integrative Manual Therapy, Acupuncture and other gentle and effective healing modalities to facilitate optimum recovery and healing in children and adult patients.
With her years of practice, Wendy finds that every individual needs a different “formula” or treatment protocol to help with their specific problem. Whether the pain is acute or chronic, sports, injury or posture-related, with or without numbness or referred pain, she believes that understanding the uniqueness of the individual and the interconnection of different parts of the body helps yield more desirable outcomes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Central Minds, does not accept direct billing from insurance companies. You would have to pay for your session directly and then have your insurance company reimburse you for the payment. Our therapists are happy to fill out any forms that your insurance company provides you with or provide you with a diagnosis on the paid receipt, which can be used to claim from your Insurance company.
Please check with your insurance carrier if a referral letter from a general practitioner/primary doctor is needed for reimbursement.
Craniosacral therapy is a non-invasive, gentle, applied healing technique that concentrates on a wave-like rhythmic pulse that passes through the whole body. This is a method that emphasizes the role of musculoskeletal system in health & disease.
In this therapy, the physiotherapist makes light contact with gentle finger pressure at selected points near the head, torso, feet and knees to note the observations at selected points and in the craniosacral system (the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord).
The aim of CST is to get rid of limitations in the body to improve the functioning of the central nervous system as this is the root cause of many structural and spinal disparities.
